마일리지로 산 표의 Sapphire Preferred 카드 Travel Insurance

얼마 전에 UA 마일리지로 유럽행 비행기표를 샀습니다. 세금은 사파이어 카드로 지불했구요. 비행기표를 100% 카드로 결제했을 경우에는 당연히 travel insurance가 제공된다고 알고 있었지만, 세금만 지불했을 경우에는 커버를 해주는 건지 아닌지 확실하지가 않아서 SM을 보내서 물어봤는데요. 마일리지로 표를 사고, 세금만 사파이어 카드로 지불한 경우에도 travel insurance를 제공한다네요. 데이타 포인트로 남겨둡니다.

I would like to inform you that your cards offers you 
coverage related to travel. I have mentioned travel 
related benefits for your perusal. You may call the

Baggage Delay:

In conjunction with a covered trip, you may receive up to 
the maximum of $100 per day for up to 5 days. Payment is 
limited to expenses incurred for the emergency purchase of
essential items needed while on a covered trip. Baggage 
Delay means a delay or misdirection of your baggage by a 
common carrier for more than six (6) hours from the time 
you arrive at your destination as shown on your ticket.

Travel Accident Insurance:

You have Travel Accident Insurance coverage and can be 
eligible to receive accidental death or dismemberment 
coverage of up to $500,000 when riding on a train, plane, 
bus or cruise ship when you have charged passenger fare 
ticket(s) to your card. Plus, you have coverage of up to 
$100,000 when you charge scheduled airline passenger fare 
ticket(s) to your card for 24 hour accidental death or 
dismemberment during your trip. Only the cardholder and 
immediate family members are covered. Additional terms and

Lost Luggage:
Reimburses you up to $3,000 for checked and carry-on 
luggage that is damaged, permanently lost or stolen on a 
common carrier such as a plane, train, bus or cruise ship 
when tickets are purchased with your card. You can also 
be 
reimbursed for up to $500 for jewelry and other 
electronics. Coverage is in excess of the common carrier

Trip Cancellation / Trip Interruption:
Reimbursement of up to $10,000 for non-refundable prepaid 
travel arrangements such as airline, train, bus, tours, 
hotels and rental cars. Cancellation or interruption must
be due to a covered reason. Additional terms, conditions

Trip Delay Reimbursement:
You may receive reimbursement of up to $500 per purchased 
ticket for unreimbursed, reasonable expenses, on a 
one-time basis, if your covered trip is delayed by a 
covered hazard for more than 12 hours or requires an 
overnight 
stay. You must charge a portion of the cost or the entire 
cost of your passenger fare to your card. You may be 
covered for reasonable expenses, such as meals and 
lodging, which were necessarily incurred as the result of 
the delay and not 
provided by the common carrier or any other party free of

Hi,

I have a question about global baggage protection and 
global trip delay protection benefit of my sapphire 
preferred card. 

I've purchased my United Airline tickets by redeeming UA 
mileage and paying taxes and fees with my sapphire 
preferred card. I am wondering if I am still protected by 
my credit card's benefits or should I need to buy 
additional travel insurance separately.
