몇 년 전 연말여행에 UA가 많이 퍼준 얘기를 썼습니다만..
올해도 크리스마스-새해의 초성수기 BOS-FLL 표를 3월에 샀었습니다.
(inventory error가 거의 확실한 가격이었습니다. 당연히 선결제 후결재(...) 해야하는..)
윗글에서 썼듯이 겨울에 미국에서 휴양지쪽으로 가는 표들은 스케쥴 체인지가 많은 편이라서, 이번엔 얼마나 바뀌나 보자! 했는데, 역시나 10월말쯤에 돌아오는 편이 늦은 저녁에서 늦은 오전으로 바뀝니다. 당일 계획을 수정해야돼서 약간 짜증은 나지만 그 다음날 바로 출근이라 그래 뭐 이정도야 하고 기다립니다. 어차피 직항은 그거밖에 없기도 하고..
근데 BOS-FLL 타는 날 보스턴에 freezing rain이 와서 난리가 납니다. flightstat으로 체크해보니 이 비행기는 BOS-FLL를 와리가리하고 있는데 아침에 출발하는 전전 세그먼트가 벌써 3+hr 딜레이가 났네요. 근데 시스템에는 30분만 지연된다고 뜹니다. 그럴리가 없는데? 했지만 뭐 딱히 할 일이 없기도 하고 혹시 기체 스왑이라도 나면 낭패라 공항에 제법 일찍 갔다가 결국 30분씩 딜레이 6번 맞고 (그 와중에 GA들은 정말 도움 안 됨) 4시간 연발+1시간 tarmac delay 당합니다. FLL에서 저녁에 만나기로 한 친구랑 약속은 취소하고 내렸더니 자정...;; 다행히 별 계획없는 다음날 오전이라 큰 데미지는 없었습니다.
여행을 끝내고 새해 아침에 부스스 일어나 나갈 준비 해야지 아오 보스턴은 영하 15도네 하면서 일어나보니 11시반 비행기가 3시로 딜레이된다고 텍스트가 옵니다.;;
...음 그러니까 풀에서 노닥노닥하고 일광욕 좀 하고 점심 먹고 떠나라는거죠? 일단 땡큐를 외치며 느긋하게 공항에 도착합니다. 가보니 maintenance라고 밀 바우처도 주네요. 비행기 타고 가면서 먹을거 바리바리 싸짊어지고 탑승했는데, 결국 tarmac delay 30분 더 맞고 결국 4시간을 채웁니다.
자, 집에 와서 차분하게 컴플레인을 씁니다. 사실 제 비행기 탑승 인생은 델타 컴플레인과 궤를 같이합니다(...) 미국에 인터뷰 왔다가(그때만 해도 종이티켓 쓰던 시절) 델타 에이전트가 체크인 하면서 엉뚱한 UA 티켓을 가져가는 바람에 난생 처음 갔던 JFK에서 미아될뻔한 경험이..

'나가는 편은 incoming flight이 3+ hr delay였으니 처음부터 아예 3시간 연착된다고 미리 말을 해야 공항에서 불편을 덜 겪을거 아니냐'
'돌아오는 편은 그나마 미리 알려주긴 해서 나았다. 근데 serious delay인건 변함 없다'
쓰면서도 'ㅈㅅ 날씨라서 어쩔 수 없네요' 하는 대답 받을 가능성이 80%에 '$50 콜?'이 20%라고 생각했는데...

당분간은 미워하지 않기로 했습니다.
@이거 basic economy여서 좌석배정이 게이트에서 되는거였는데, 나가는건 comfort plus에 3자리, 돌아오는건 main cabin 뒤쪽에 3자리 이어지게 받았습니다.
일부에서 나오는 얘기처럼 일부러 쪼개거나 하진 않는 것 같네요.
