Welcome to MileMoa.com!
On this page, we want to give you a quick overview of what the Milemoa site is all about.
Table of Contents
1. BLOG + BBS
A Milemoa site is both a personal blog and a community.
The main theme of the site is "Mileage information that pays".
Before we begin, let's make it abundantly clear that the information on this site is almost entirely (virtually 100%) specific to people living in the United States.
1) Blog
First of all, the personal blog space you're looking at right now is where I write about how to earn miles, primarily through credit card offers, and how to redeem them effectively.
These "main blog posts" come out about once a week or two, and they're about hot deals or mile redemption opportunities that you should know about at the time they're published.
2) BBS
While I am the primary/only author of the blog posts, the BBS is a community, sustained by voluntary participation of thousands of members.
BBS is not just about information about miles and travel. Every imaginable topics about life in the US is shared here.
(I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for sharing their information).
2. How to leave comments + How to join BBS
You don't need to be a member to read the main blog and BBS.
If you have any questions after reading the blog post, please post them in the comments area at the bottom of the post and I or someone else will answer them.
When you comment, you'll need to include your preferred nickname and email address, and if it's your first time commenting, you'll have to wait a bit for me to manually approve your comment before it goes live.
To post or comment on a message board, you must be a member of the board.
However, board membership is not always open, and is usually limited to one day per year.
BBS welcomed new members on February 18, 2024, October 28, 2022, August 29, 2020, February 2, 2019, and January 20, 2018, in order of most recent date.
The next signup date is TBD.
3. One benefits oneself by benefitting others
MileMoa's operating policy is that "one benefits oneself by benefitting others."
I think it translates to something like "by benefiting others, I benefit myself".
The ultimate goal of this site is to help all members enjoy eligible and available opportunities by sharing pertinent mileage information.
Some of you may be worried about the site's operation when you see that we don't have any Google ads on the board. Card referralsand Amazon referrals, so I don't think you need to worry about that.
If in the future Google ads are introduced, I'll try to keep them to a minimum without compromising the readability of the site.
4. How to use the blog section of the site
If you're new to the Milemoa site, whether via referred by your friends or a search, I'd recommend reading the latest posts on the main blog section to get a feel for it.
Then, use Glossary, Start Now, Ticketing Basics for further information.
5. Precautions for using the site
The main way to earn miles is to take advantage of credit card offers, so a lot of the information on Milemoa is about credit cards.
One word of caution here: the information on the Milemoa.com is not universally applicable to everyone, as everyone is in a different financial situation.
For example, person A could open credit cards constantly and not have any impact on their credit score or overall credit, while person B could only open 2-3 credit cards overall and still have a significant impact on their credit score.
Additionally, the recent trend in the mileage world has been to move away from flights and hotel stays and toward earning rewards based on card spend, so once you get into the mileage game, you tend to spend a lot more.
Of course, if you do the math afterward, it's often still a profit, but it's worth noting that the standard has changed from paying $100 to getting $300 worth of value, rather than the "free miles" we used to get.
To summarize,
1) that all information on the Milemoa site is provided at your own discretion and at your own risk
2) It is important to remember that all information on the MileMoa site, especially the capitalized text, is the personal opinion of the operator, and I am not responsible for the subsequent judgment and consequences of each individual.
