It's Thursday, May 15, at 9 a.m. Eastern time.
I rushed to apply for a new one and was pleasantly surprised with an unexpected instant approval. I'm approaching 25 years of card life, but mermaids are always a thrill 🙂 .
In today's post, we've drawn a flowchart of how to determine if you're eligible for a Sharp card.
I've noticed that a lot of people have had their Sharp cards for a long time, 5 years or more.
For these people,
1) Take a look at the flowchart below to get a basic idea of your eligibility.
2) Then, if you have any more questions, please contact the In our last 10 Questions 10 Answers postfor a detailed explanation of the 48-month rule, the 5/24 rule, and more.
It's important to reiterate.
If you have an existing Sapphire Card or Sapphire Reserve® Credit Card, you can use it to pay off your current You'll need to downgrade to a Freedom Series card. If you cancel, you'll have to wait 30 days, which isn't convenient.
I hope you all take advantage of this opportunity.

hello!
I was approved on April 3, 2021, and I believe I received my bonus in May. I have a question
I don't remember the date I received my bonus.
1. if I apply for the card even though it hasn't been 48 months since I received the bonus 4 years ago, will I not be approved even though I have a good credit score? If so, it's ambiguous, so I'm going to apply anyway, if Chase decides to do so.
2. if it is before 48 months but approved, will the signup bonus be the existing signup of 60000?
3. if it's before 48 months but I get approved, will I get the sign up bonus of 100000 if it's after 48 months when I get the bonus?
You're thinking about applying, and then you ask.
1. You are correct. It's my understanding that it has nothing to do with credit score, and if it's not 48 months old, you won't be approved at all.
2. If approved, I believe I will receive the offer from the link I claimed, i.e. 100,000 points.
3. no. Follow the offer in the Apply link.
I got a Sapphire card and have had it for about 5 years, can I apply again? I already have a Freedom Card.
If you're not sure if it's been 48 months since you received your signup bonus, you can use the
1) Call Chase right now to downgrade your Sapphire card to the Freedom card and
2) I would recommend applying around 5/14.
It's been about 5 days since I applied, but I haven't heard anything... It's been over 48 months and I don't have a sapphire... Is recon the answer? I read that there is nothing to do unless it's rejected, so I'm waiting to get rejected... Should I check the rejection message by letter and call? Ah frustrating~!
You may want to give it a little patience - sometimes approvals happen in a day or two, but often it takes a week or more.
Thank you, Milemoa. I waited like you said and then I got an email and it was a fraud alert. I called them and said, "This is what I did," and they took care of it right away, and it went right into my account.
Great, congratulations on your approval.
Thanks for the info as always. I guess there's nothing I can do but wait, right?
Yes. I think it's best to wait and see, good luck.
I just submitted a request to downgrade my Reserve card to the Chase Freedom Unlimited. So I can apply for the Chase Preferred with 100k sign-up points. I will keep you all updated on whether it gets approved when I apply it on 5/14!!!! Wish me luck
Good luck.
Update: I just applied for the Chase Preferred card, and it was approved instantly. I can now confirm that this card is active on my account, and I have both the Chase Unlimited and Preferred cards displayed on the Chase homepage. Now it's time to spend money to earn 100k points! Good luck, everyone!
Congratulations.
Thank you for the great info! I have freedom unlimited and regular freedom. Can I still downgrade sapphire preferred though i have two freedom cards?
Yes. Freedom cards can be duplicated.
As I wrote in the text, there are conflicting opinions on whether it's 2 days or 4 days, but good luck with the downgrade and good luck with your new card.
Thank you so much. Applied for downgrade on the 11th pending review on the 14th and was approved on the 16th.
I'd love to be able to sign up too.
Congratulations on your approval.

Hi, I've had a business Sapphire Preferred for a long time, should I switch it to Freedom and apply for a personal Sapphire Preferred?
You mean the Ink Preferred card, because the personal card is Sapphire and the business card is Ink.
For Chase, personal and business cards are not related, so if you have the Ink Preferred, you can just apply for the personal Sapphire Preferred. Good luck.
I'm so glad I found this good information now, thank you so much. Can I downgrade now and apply on 5/14? Or should I apply on 5/15?
Downgrade now, and if you're doing it on the 14th, I'd recommend doing it 14 days later. (Of course, keep in mind that 2 days is not a published rule from Chase, so I could be wrong).
I got the Amex Business Platinum 25k offer, but it's through 6/30 and the Sharp ends 5/15, so I'm not sure what to do, I don't think I can do both.
If you can find all of the Amex Business benefits and don't have a problem meeting your spend, Amex Business is a great offer. The difference is that the $250,000 offer comes and goes, whereas the Sapphire offer, once you go, you never know when it's going to come back.
Is 5/24 both credit checks?
If you look at your Chase account credit report, it says 5, but if I remember correctly, that includes 2 business cards and a bank account, and Capitol Credit has 1 or 2...
I've been checking my business and open cards for a while because they're all Chase.
The check mark is still there. This is too good to be true... but I'll try, right?
--Please put me on the signup waiting list
((Posting EyeTing members over 10 years old)
It's not a credit check, just count the number of new accounts. If you have 2 business cards out of 5 (assuming they're not Capital One business cards), I think it's safe to say you're 3/24. If so, you should be eligible as long as you meet the 48-month threshold.
Added.
I applied for the Sapphire in early May 2021 and got the bonus miles when I met my spend, but I switched to the old Sapphire card Freedom last month just in case, and didn't know if I could apply for the Sapphire again.
If you were approved, I believe the bonus should be eligible. Once you get the card, send a secure message to the Chase website for confirmation.
Please put me on the waiting list to sign up!!!

Me too~ signup waiting 🙏.

I've been using it every time, but I didn't realize there was a chance to sign up like this ðŸ™' Can you put me on the list?!
It's not a special list to join, it's a notification list that will email you when an announcement goes up on the board. I added my email address anyway.
Hi, could you please add me to the list as well?
Added.
Thanks as always for the helpful information.
I downgraded my 2019 Sapphire Reserve to Freedom Unlimited and applied, but they said I'm not a mermaid and they want to wait for me to review it ㅠ.ㅠ
I have good credit and no other requirements... Too bad...
I'm in the queue to sign up too~!
We hope you get approved soon.

Thanks for the great information. I'm not a mermaid.
Please put me on the waiting list to sign up, thank you!

Thank you so much for always providing good information. I was going to pass on this 100,000 because I currently have a Sharp and thought I wasn't eligible, but then I realized too late that I might be eligible... I checked and it's been 48 months since I filled the spend and received the points, but I haven't downgraded yet... I was going to wait 2-4 days after downgrading to apply... But it'll be hard if it's confirmed that it ends on the 15th... The offer came to my personal email and it says until 5/19 and it has an invitation number... Can I try for this? Or even if such an offer comes, can it end anytime before that? And I would also like a list of members... Thanks as always.
If you have a personal offer, I believe it will be valid if you apply by that date.
This is not a signup list, but a notification list to contact you when an announcement comes up. Added.
Oh, and I was wondering if you could put me on the waiting list?
I think the offer will keep coming, so if it comes back later this year or next year, you can apply then.
Added.
Can you please post a waiting list for me too~? Thank you!

If I downgrade to Freedom, what happens to the points I had on Sharp?
Do I need to move to UA or something before I downgrade?
No, you can keep it on the Freedom Card and then transfer it to Sharp if you're approved for Sharp and then combine it to the airline of your choice.
Thank you for the great information. I got the card thanks to you, now I just need to put it to good use. If you could waitress for me, please do.
Congratulations, mermaid.
Added your email to the notification list.
hello.
I opened SapphirePrep in May of last year, so I was surprised to be charged an annual fee this time.
Should I downgrade or close my current sharps?
I tried to downgrade to the Freedom Flex and found out that this card also has $200 cash back when you spend $500 in 3 months (when I called, they said it's new only and downgrades don't qualify for the promo).
I opened and closed my first Freedom Unlimited card a long time ago (pre-Milemoa days, lol).
Thank you for your help.
It sounds like you're usually downgrading.
Thank you for always being so detailed and accurate with your information! I got in before it expired, thanks to you. I'd love a list of signups too.
Congratulations, mermaid.

Can you please post a waiting list for me too~? Thank you!

I know that the 100,000 mile bonus expired on the 15th, but I received a preselected invitation letter from Chase a few days ago saying that if I apply by 6/23, I will get a 100,000 mile bonus. If I go to chaseshapphiremall.com and enter my invitation number, my information will come up and I can apply for the card. Or do you know if it will apply if I enter the invitation number by 6/23 like the letter says?
If you received a targeted offer, we understand that you can honor it regardless of the date of the public offer.
Thank you for the detailed and kind information, may I ask if I can be on the waiting list?

My application was rejected as a groom's referral, but I asked for reconsideration, got rejected again, asked for reconsideration again, answered questions about income, account balance, credit card balance, etc. and got approved today!!!
It's been 15 days, but the signup bonus is said to be applied from the date of the first application. I wanted to leave a note that there was also such a case. Please put me on the waiting list for Milemoan~~~.
Congratulations on your successful recon.

hello.
I have had a Sapphire Reserve card on and off for 5+ years and have had less than 4 cards in the last 24 months, so I think I meet all of the above criteria. I have a good credit score of 800+, but after more than a month of review, I received a rejection letter. This is the first Chase card I've ever applied for and I'm a little confused, is there any way I can find out why I was rejected? I'd also like to know what I can do to get approved next time.
Thank you!
If you're rejected, you'll receive a rejection letter in the mail, which you'll want to review and then call the Chase reconsideration number to request reconsideration.

Thank you~~!! I will try to do as you said.
Good luck.
I applied for the Sharp at the 100k offer and got the card.
I'm newlywed and I'm going to buy a wedding ring.
So I can spend $5000 in 3 months, but if I do a 0% APR balance transfer to a business credit card, will I still get 100k Chase points?
And do you have a favorite business 0% APR credit card? You can refer us!
P.S. Please put me on your signup list
1. Since balance transfers are about paying off what you've already spent on the card, I think you should be able to get the sign-up bonus with or without a balance transfer as long as you've paid off your Chase Sharp card. (Of course, there are times when balance transfers don't go through for one reason or another, or are delayed, and if you end up with a delinquent balance on your card, you may not get the bonus.)
2. I'm not sure if you can transfer the balance from your personal card to your business card - I've heard that this can vary from card company to card company (and there may be tax implications), so you'll have to look into that.
3. added your email to the notification list.
Thank you, MileMo, for always keeping us informed.
Please put me on the waiting list once again.
I'm already registered as of July 27th of last year.
I always find the information very helpful.
Thank you.
