Next Thursday Ends 11/13 at 9am ETfor the first time.

In today's post, we'll give you a quick rundown of what this offer is all about and how to fill out the Chase Business Card application.

Best offers ever

The Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card and the Ink Business Cash® Credit Card are two business cards issued by Chase.

These cards are called

  • There's no annual fee, which makes it a great long-term hold.
  • The points you earn are UR points, which you can then combine with your Dorrance card to convert to hotel points like Hyatt or airline miles like UA.
  • The spending requirement is $6,000 in 3 months, which is pretty good for a business card.
  • And the Best of all, the signup bonus is 90,000 points, which is worth $900 in cash..

However, these cards are business cards, and as such, they ask for different types of information on the card application, which can be confusing.

So in this article, we'll use the How to fill out the Chase Business Card application from a sole proprietor's perspective. Here's a quick rundown

Business-related, things to remember

Before we get into the content of this post, let me reiterate my disclaimer.

A business card is literally a card for business owners who have a business.

When you hear the word business, you probably think of a store that's registered as a corporation, but that's not necessarily the case.

In the U.S., it's known that even a sole proprietorship with a small side hustle can be considered a business, which is why it's common for English-speaking bloggers to say that driving for Uber or selling used goods on eBay as a hobby is no problem when applying for a business card.

In most cases, a sole proprietorship doesn't require a separate federal or state registration process, and the only thing you need to apply for a business card is your social security number, which is the only thing you'll need to get approved for a card, and it's based on your creditworthiness.

However, (and this is just my opinion), I don't think this is as easy as it seems.

(1) For starters, if you're not a permanent resident or citizen, it's probably best not to apply for a business card at all. If you're on an F or H visa, having a business card when you're not allowed to have a second job (even if the card company doesn't report it to the relevant authorities) can raise unnecessary suspicions about your intentions, so it's best to stay away from it altogether and not be greedy.

(2) As a general rule, you should include your business profits on your tax return. Your state may not require you to register as a sole proprietorship, but your county or city may (depending on your business). The opinion that business cards are just a form of payment, not related to the actual business and therefore not relevant to tax reporting. It's also a common comment on the mileage meter, but I think it's worth noting.

I'm not a lawyer, I'm not a tax accountant, and everything you see on the wear site is at your own risk..

Keep this in mind.

(3) Business cards generally have higher spending requirements than personal cards, so it's not uncommon to pay for personal expenses on a business card that aren't business expenses. In principle (depending on the card company), this is a violation of the terms and conditions (although I've never actually seen anything done about it), since business cards are meant to be used for business-related spending. (I've never actually seen anyone get in trouble for this, but) business cards are meant to be used for business-related expenses, so if you're really worried that it's going to be too much, you shouldn't get one at all.

Again, we emphasize that you should read these caveats carefully.

If this sounds like you, you can now start filling out the application below.

1. privacy-related items

Chase Ink Cards application.

Broadly speaking, there are separate sections for personal and business information.

It's a business card, but it also asks for personal information because the decision to issue the card is largely based on the individual's credit history.

Privacy is straightforward, nothing complicated.

First name, last name, date of birth, and mother's maiden name are all familiar from personal card applications.

The only two things that are different are the authorizing officer title and the Tax ID type.

1) The Authorizing officer title asks for your position in the company. If you are applying as a sole proprietorship, you can select "Owner".

2) For the individual's Tax ID type, you can choose between SSN and ITIN, which I believe will be the case in most cases.

Next, please provide your home address, email, and phone number.

As mentioned earlier, business cards are essentially issued based on a person's creditworthiness.

That's why in 3) Total gross annual income, you should enter all of your personal income, not just your business income.

As the description says, it's not just your paycheck that you earn in your own name, but if you receive living expenses from other people, you can include those in this category as well.

2. business information-related items

Business-related entries look a little more complicated, but they're easy to fill out if you follow along.

1) You'll need to select Sole Proprietorship for your legal business structure (if you have an LLC or Corporation, you should definitely choose that option).

2) Number 2 is the official name of your business. If you're applying as a sole proprietor, you'll need to enter Your business legal name must be your full name. If you make it up, Chase will ask for proof. This is important.

3) The name that goes on the card should be the same name as in 2).

4) If you're a DBA, No is the usual answer, since you wouldn't have registered.

5) If you don't have any other employees, you should say 0.

6) For the Tax ID, you'll use your personal social number, so you can pick your SSN and write it down. Of course, if you have an EIN, you can also use your EIN number.

If you're following along, we'll move on.

In case 7), if you do not have a separate business address, please use your home address Yes

8) Number is your personal phone if you don't have a separate business phone.

For number 9), it is the start date of your business. If you started now, it would be 11/2025

10) Business income, which you can call $0 if you haven't started yet.

For number 11), I told them to write down the approximate amount they would use.

Now, this is where you write down your business taxonomy code.

NAICS are North American Industry Classification System codes, which are a systematic way of categorizing different types of businesses and industries in the United States.

These are standard codes that you should know if you need to file taxes or register your business in the future.

It would be nice if I could find the NAICS code and enter it and it would automatically populate the previous Business category, Business type, and Business sub-type.

So I looked for some typical side hustle code.

As you can see below, you can start with the Business category and enter Category - Type - sub-type.

1) Some of you may be using Uber Eats or Doordash, in which case you'll want to enter the following

2) If you are using YouTube or Instagram, you can enter the following information.

3) For those of you who tutor students on the side, there's a separate category for Tutoring.

4) For those of you who are real estate agents, the code is 531210.

5) If you're consulting, you can pick and choose what's relevant to your consulting.

6) Lastly, if you are selling/reselling things in online spaces like ebay.

In this case, a code change in the fall of 2022 changed things completely.

  • Previously, we emphasized the online/offline distinction, so if you sold online, you could use one code, 454110 (Electronic Shopping & Mail-Order Houses), regardless of the item.
  • However, the Fall 2022 rule change The online/offline distinction doesn't matter anymore - the code is different depending on what you're selling.

To name a few,

  • Automotive Parts & Accessories Retailers: 441330
  • Clothing & Clothing Accessories Retailers: 458110
  • Cosmetics, Beauty Supplies, & Perfume Retailers: 456120
  • Electronics & Appliance Retailers: 449210
  • Hobby, Toy, & Game Retailers: 459120
  • Used Merchandise Retailers: 459510
  • All Other Miscellaneous Retailers: 459999

If you're selling miscellaneous items like this on eBay, 459999 seems to be a safe bet.

I can't vouch for the accuracy of this, but from what I can find, the Similar stories on redditin the list. Similar story for eBay's online communityis present.

In this case, you can make the following choices

Do this, read the Certifications section once at the end, check "I've read and agree to the above" and submit, and your card application is complete.

One more thing to mention.

A while back, something new was added to Certification. It's the wording below.

"The new cardmember bonus may not be available to you if you have ever had this card or any other Chase for Business card without an annual fee. We may also consider factors pertinent to your business in determining your bonus eligibility."

Based on this wording alone, it seems like the Ink Sister card doesn't get the bonus while you have Ink Cash.

However, there have been cases where it's just a statement and doesn't actually apply, so I'm okay with that for now, but it's in the terms anyway, so it's good to keep that in mind. At your own risk.

Let's wrap up today's post.

Business cards dramatically increase your chances of earning miles, so it's a great opportunity for those who are eligible to apply for a business card.

Chase's business card in particular is a must-have for those who manage their 5/24, as it checks for 5/24 when you apply for the card, but once approved, it doesn't start counting 5/24.

These Chase Ink offers are literally the best ever, so if you've been thinking about making one, you'll want to apply before they end.

  • I created ink unlimited in 2021. Can I cancel it and get the signup bonus if I sign up for a new one? What should I be aware of?

    • I'm wondering if it's too soon to cancel now. Some people have said that it takes a while for the card to update.

There's an update to the terms, but it doesn't seem to be enforced at the moment, so you could try the Ink Cash card - at your own risk, of course.

  • hello. If I made both ink uni and ink cash in 21, can I get them again?

    • We apologize for the long delay in responding.

In the last 2-3 weeks, the terms and conditions have been updated to add that for business cards with no annual fee, you may not be eligible for the bonus if you have had this card in the past. ("The new cardmember bonus may not be available to you if you have ever had this card or any other Chase for Business card without an annual fee. We may also consider factors pertinent to your business in determining your bonus eligibility.")

The jury is still out on whether this actually applies, but I think it's clear that things are getting worse in the long run.
