=====
The Venture Card (Venture Rewards Credit Card), issued by Capital One, is back with a limited-time promotion.
This is the third promotion, following July 2024 and February 2025.
- The usual offer is to get 75,000 "miles" for spending $4,000 in 3 months, but this limited-time-offer has an addition of $250 travel credit.
- Considering that the highest sign-up bonus ever for this card was 100,000 "miles," I'd say this is pretty close to the highest offer ever.
In today's post, I've summarized the highlights of the offer, the card's key features, and what to look out for.
Table of Contents
1. Basic information
The Venture card is a $95 annual fee card that allows you to Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card from Chasewhich is in direct competition with the
The points you earn with this card are Capital One's own loyalty program called "miles".
How to use these "miles"?
- If you have the Venture card, you can transfer these "miles" to over 15 airlines, including Air Canada, Lifemiles, Turkish Airlines, and more (sometimes the ratio is 2:1.5 like EVA, but mostly it's 1:1).
- You can also use Capital One's booking portal, called Capital One Travel, to book airline tickets or hotels through the site at a rate of 1 'mile' = 1 cent.
- You can also use your Venture card on the official sites of airlines and hotels, and then use the 'miles' you have as cash to offset the amount of the purchase. It's a feature called "Cover Travel Purchases", where 1 'mile' is worth = 1 cent.
- Of course, you can cash out directly, but that's never a good idea because the value of a 'mile' is halved to 1 'mile' = 0.5 cents.
This means that the 75,000 "miles" you receive as a sign-up bonus are guaranteed to have a minimum value of $$750, assuming you use them for travel expenses.
Of course, if you transfer them to airline miles, you may be able to extract even more value depending on how you redeem them.
For example, assuming that you accrued enough "miles", you can transfer them to EVA for a business class ticket. In this case, your "miles" would worth 2-3 cents per "mile".
2. $250 travel credit
For this limited-time offer, Capital One has added $250 travel credit in addition to the 'miles'.
As to this $250 credit:
- It is issued in the form of a discount coupon to use on Capital One Travel, Capital One's own travel booking site.
- If a travel product, such as an airline ticket, costs more than $250, the entire $250 will be used at once, but if it doesn't cost more than $250, the difference will be available for future use.
- However, it's important to note that the coupon expires one year after it's issued.
- It's also worth noting that this is a one-time offer, not an annual benefit.

3. 2 'miles' per dollar by default, a great card for everyday use
There's one advantage to the Venture card that's worth mentioning.
The card has a default earning rate of 2 "miles" per dollar.
Of course, "miles" here refers to Capital One's own unit of points, not airline miles as I mentioned earlier.
However, these "miles" are guaranteed to be worth 1 "mile" = 1 cent when redeemed for travel expenses, so Venture's default earning rate is 2 "miles" = 2 cents per dollar.
This means that (assuming you use it for travel expenses) the 2% accrual rate is basically guaranteed.
So I'd say it's a pretty good choice for everyday use. You don't have to carry around multiple cards and do the math to maximize the value of each item.
4. Things to note
There are a few caveats to this offer.
1) Venture Family of Cards Rules
This is a disappointing change, as Capital One introduced a 48-month rule + family rule at the end of 2025 last year.
- The first is that you can't get the bonus on this card unless you've had it for 48 months.
- This doesn't just apply to Venture cards, Venture X cards are counted as well.
That said, it's worth remembering that if you've earned a bonus on the Venture X card within the last 48 months, you're unfortunately not eligible for this Venture card.
"You are not eligible for this product if you have received a new cardmember bonus for the Capital One Venture card or the Capital One Venture X card in the past 48 months."
However, the flip side of this is that it means that people who have never gotten Venture X should get Venture first when the promotion is this good.
The rule is that if you get a bonus on the parent card, Venture X, you won't get the signup bonus on the child card, Venture.
If the reverse is true, i.e., you received the bonus on the lower card, the Venture card, first, there is no special restriction on receiving the bonus on the higher card, the Venture X card.
So if you're looking to get into the Venture family of cards, this could be a great opportunity.
2) Rental car insurance is secondary
Many of you may have credit card-provided rental car auto insurance, called collision damage waiver (CDW) or loss damage waiver (LDW).
For the Venture card, the CDW is secondary. It means that if I have an accident, my auto insurance will cover it first and then the rest will be picked up by the CDW. You need to be extra careful with this one.
3) Issue with Mastercard
The card is issued as a Mastercard.
Costco stores only accept Visa for credit cards, so you can't use the card in-store.
Instead, Costco online accepts Mastercard. So the following would work:
- You buy Costco's own gift certificates, Costco Shop Card from Costco online
- It looks like you're going to have to take a detour by using this Shop Card to pay for your groceries in-store.
Let's wrap up today's post.
It is great news that the Venture card's sign-up bonus has gone up. With the addition of the $250 travel credit, you can easily enjoy up to $1,000 in travel bonuses.
However, depending on your travel patterns, spending patterns, and where you live, your card utilization will vary greatly.
So, it's probably a good idea to check out the other cards that also have limited time offers.

Thank you as always
When I booked hyatt with Capital One Travel with these miles
1. Can I get a Glee Hack?
2. Will nights be added?
Except for the Premier Collection, you don't usually earn QNs... It's like an OTA reservation, so I don't think it's even eligible, but I'm not sure about that...
Yes, thank you
I would say no in principle because it's a third-party pill, and it would be nice if the hotel could make an exception for it.
I'm a newbie here, so can I use these miles to buy a flight to Korea, and if so, how?
There are many airlines that allow you to transfer points, including BA, JAL, Air Canada, EVA, and many more, but they are all quite complicated programs, and it's hard to explain them in a short comment, so please understand.
If I previously received a Venture X Card as an authorized user, am I eligible for the bonus?
You mean you only have an AU card and have never received Venture X as your primary applicant? Then yes, I believe it is possible (at your own risk, of course).
I'm currently on Venture X spending, so I don't have the bonus, but if I get it from Venture and fill the spending, can we both get the signup bonus?
Ah, I'm not sure about this one ;; please let me know if you succeed.
Addendum: I'm guessing it's not hard to get approved, since I only get one every six months.
It's been 48 months since I received the Venture X sign-up bonus, can I still get the Venture Card sign-up bonus if I still have the Venture X?
If I can't have both cards at the same time, can I cancel my venture x card and apply for the venture card straight away? Please advise 🙏
There's nothing in the terms that says you can't have both cards at the same time, but since you're probably trying this for the first time, I'd say it's a bit of a risk that there's no case to refer to ;);
When I go through the pre-approval process, it says only cards with no annual fee are available. I have a good credit score with Chase and other banks, and I have a good credit score... but strangely, Capital One won't give me a card... Do you have any information on this?
This is quite individualized, and some people get it easily, while others don't (even though other company cards work well);
I applied for venture one and got a deny. The reason is that I have too many cards open. In this case, is it good to close the cards that I don't use? If I get a deny like this, is it difficult to apply again? I am very surprised by the deny for the first time.
There are many cases where the Capital One card is not easy to get approved for, so it's best to take it easy and know that time will eventually take care of it.
Thanks to MileMom, I got the Venture X last minute and have been using it well. It's been less than a month now, is it okay to apply for this card?
Unfortunately, as explained in the text, the rules changed last year in such a way that once you've signed up for Venture X, you can't get a lower-tier Venture card.
hello. We both applied for the first time, but I only see no annual fee cards. Chase and Barclays have been good so far. Is it because I've gotten about 6 cards in 24 months? I'm left with Citi and Venture.
Also, Milemoa, do you have any plans for a signup in the near future? I seem to miss it every time (I'd love to share a pass).
Oh, you're right, Capital One is quite a challenge.
I've added your email to the notification list.
When I tried to pre-approve it, it only shows me cards that are free of annual fee, including Venture One. If I apply for Venture, it will be rejected. Is there any chance? I was thinking of opening a couple of cards to fill in the signup, but it would be a shame if Venture is rejected.
P.S. Milemoa, please add me to the notification list!
It's unlikely, but if I were you, I'd give it a shot to get rid of the disappointment.

I'm wondering if this might be a better choice.

Yes. You'll need to do that. If you create a Venture X first, you won't be able to get a Venture card within four years.

Do you know how long they're accepting applications?
No exact date is known yet.
Thank you, venture succeeded, please add me to the list too

I was cautious about being approved without a personal offer because I didn't have any transaction history with Captialone, but I was lucky enough to be approved and am enjoying my first Captialone card. Can you please add me to the signup list? Thank you very much ^^.
