Updated 01.21.2025
The Venture X card will no longer be eligible for complimentary access to Plaza Premium Group lounges starting in March 2025. However, many of these lounges are still accessible with the Priority Pass card, so it's worth noting.
Updated 09.16.2023
$The way the $300 credit will be used has changed: it will no longer be redeemed as a reimbursement, but as a discount coupon to book travel on the Capone site. We hope you're not confused.
Bam bam bam. I finally got my hands on a Venture X card!
I was a little hesitant about adding a new personal card since the Chase 5/24 had just been released, but I couldn't resist the temptation and hit the apply button and was fortunate enough to get the Mermaid.
I've been making US cards for about 20 years now, but mermaids have always been a thrill 🙂 .
Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card | |
---|---|
Signup bonuses | 75,000 'miles' + $250 credit after spending $4,000 in 3 months |
For more info | You can apply through the partner site. |
Today's post is about How to sign up for 1) Hertz car rental elite status, which is an added benefit of the Venture X card but requires a separate application process to take advantage of, and 2) the Priority Pass card, which is a lounge pass..
We covered the basics of the Venture X card in last month's postbut we haven't talked about Hertz ratings, and we think you'll find today's post helpful.
Table of Contents
1. Hertz's President's Circle rating
The Venture X card comes with a number of perks, one of which is elite status with car rental company Hertz.
Hertz filed for bankruptcy protection early last year due to its deteriorating business, but the company hasn't completely shut down; the major rental car company is said to be on its way to a turnaround.
Anyway, Hertz has an elite program called Gold Plus Rewards, where you get Gold status as soon as you sign up, and then you can earn Five Star and then President's Circle depending on how often you rent.
The Venture X card is the big winner because it allows you to earn the That you can get President's Circle for freeis.
This benefit applies not only to the primary holder of the Venture X card, but also to family card holders (authorized users) who can apply for free.
The Gold Plus Rewards program is not just for Venture X members, but we encourage all of you Magicians to sign up for it.
Once you sign up for the program and register your driver's license and main card, you can pick up a car and drive to your next destination without having to wait at the airport car rental counter for a long time. For your first rental after signing up, you'll have to stop by the counter to verify your ID and card, but once you're registered, it's the easiest thing in the world.
In the case of President's Circle, as you can see in the image above, upgrades are guaranteed, and in the case of airport branches where you can choose your own car with Ultimate Choice, the only advantage is that the number of cars to choose from is expanded.
2. How to sign up
Now, next, we'll explain how to sign up.
The direct URL to the registration page has been known by English-speaking bloggers and others for the past month, but it seems that registration doesn't work properly if you don't go through the Capital One site.
So it's a bit of a hassle, but we recommend registering through the Capital One site.
1) First, log in to the site and click the Redeem button under Explore Rewards.
2) Go to the Rewards page and click on the Benefits button.
3) Then, press the Hertz President's Cile Status page.
4) In the popup that appears, click Learn More.
5) Now, on the new screen, if you're already enrolled in Gold Plus Rewards, you can enter your name, email, and Gold Plus Rewards membership number, click upgrade my account, and that's it. The upgrade is not real-time, it's going to take 2-3 days, so be aware of that.
6) If you're not already a Gold Plus Rewards member, you can sign up for this charm and receive President's Circle status immediately. Enroll and get President's Circle status here.
7) On the screen that changes, you can enter information such as your address, email, driver's license, etc.
On the registration screen, make sure your CDP is pre-populated with Capital One Venture X Cardmbr, and you're good to go.
However, as mentioned earlier It's good to remember that when renting for the first time, you can't go straight to the car, but have to go through the counter once.
3. Priority Pass benefits
Now, next up is the Priority Pass card.
As I explained in my last post, the Priority Pass card that comes with the Venture X is a
- Free for PP cardholders + up to 2 guests
access to partner restaurants, not just lounges.(This benefit was eliminated in January 2023).
With unlimited companions, these are pretty decent options, with the exception of the Ritz Carlton card, which is pretty much unbeatable when it comes to PP cards.
As with Hertz and President's Circle, the PP card's benefits also extend to family cardholders who can get the card for free.in the file.
So if you're a family of four with two kids, you could create a family card and each couple could apply for a Priority Pass so the whole family can get into the lounge.
(Of course, in this case, if you've created a family card, you're putting one card on the 5/24 count, so you'll want to think very carefully about that).
4. How to sign up
For PP cards, there is a shortcut to the site page.
1) Click on the site below.
https://www.prioritypass.com/capitalone
2) Enter the 16 digits of your card number on the site you were directed to.
3) You'll need to select your registration region, select USA.
4) They confirm that there is no signup fee for Venture X members, and that lounge access is free.
5) Next, you'll need to enter your personal information, including your name, date of birth, and the address where you'd like to receive your physical card.
6) Next, you'll need to create an online account username and password.
7) After creating your ID, you will need to enter your billing information. The card number is pre-populated with the first 16 digits of the card you entered at the beginning.
8) After this, the registration process is complete, and you can get the app on your phone and log in with the ID you registered earlier to check your e-card information. The physical card is said to be sent within 3 days, but the actual delivery takes about 3 weeks, so I think it's good to pay attention to that.
Let's wrap up today's post.
If you're going to make a card, you might as well take advantage of all the add-ons that come with it, right?
While traveling hasn't been easy due to the pandemic, we hope you'll take the time to sign up for the program, as it will be useful for future trips.

Oh the card has a bit of a Sapphire Preferred feel to it!
I was thinking about making a Sway companion, but then I realized that I could just pass in
I'll be applying soon. I'm sending you mermaid vibes...!!!
Good luck!
Mamo, congratulations on your mermaid 🙂 .
I'm a little disappointed that Capital One is included in the CDP when you sign up for Venture X Hearts. Some companies put the company number in the CDP for employees to apply, so you might have to choose one or the other.
Additionally, PCs and 5-Stars on Hearts can now gift others the same tier as their own. The recipient will retain that tier until the end of June next year.
https://pub.emails.hertz.com/GiftStatus2021
Thank you for the rating futures information.
It's been a while since I rented a car, so my memory is fuzzy, but I seem to recall that CDP can be changed at the time of rental. I think it's safe to say that Capital One CDP is just the default setting.
I had to do it someday after seeing the PC thread, but I saw this today and just went straight to the PC. Thank you. But if you said that AU people can get PC status, can AU people also get it if they create a Capital One web ID? I'm wondering what the procedure is.
By the way, I've been meaning to apply for the PP card since I got it from your link last Friday, so thank you for posting such a detailed method!
We're glad you found this helpful.
Thank you so much for answering my question and posting a detailed post right away!
We hope this helps.
I used your link to sign up for the PP card and hertz president's circle as well. I'm buying an iphone13 this week and I'm really looking forward to using this card with cell phone protection. Thank you.
For cell phone protection, it seems like you don't buy the device, but rather pay a monthly fee.
I just read your post and was inspired to apply and got a mermaid.
I didn't think much of it, but then I saw that the end of the year was almost here, so I signed up for this, sick and tired.
Actually, it's a card I'm not familiar with, so I'll have to study it a bit and burn it before the end of the year. The benefits are all calendar year, right? I hope the card comes soon. lol
Congratulations, mermaid.
I believe the $300 credit is counted as a membership year, not a calendar year. I believe the $200 vacation rental credit, which is a one-time first year credit, is also a membership year. I hope I'm not mistaken.
Thank you for the information.
Hertz CDP has Capital One in it, so even if I don't choose Capital One CDP when renting, I still get the president circle benefits, right? I use my company CDP to get the discount.
I've signed up for the Five Star status with the Amex flat benefit in the past, and I don't recall there being a relationship between the status benefit and CDP use. I think you should be able to use CDPs as you wish.
hello.
Is the $200 credit for the first year only ($200 credit for spending more than $200 on vacation rentals like Airbnb and VRBO) a year after the card is issued? Or is it counted as a calendar year after issuance? Thanks in advance.
Now that I write that, I see someone else just above me asked the same question. It would be nice to go by membership year instead of calendar year. Thanks~.
The terms say "within your first year as a cardholder", which I understand to be one year after the card is issued.
You are currently a member of KepOne Buncher.
Is it possible to get 100,000 miles for applying for VentureX? I read that it's only for new members. If that's the case, what are some cards that would give me the most miles/points?? Thanks.
Even if you have an existing Venture card, we're told that you're eligible for a sign-up bonus when you apply for a new Venture X card.
However, it's worth noting that if you upgrade an existing card (product change), you will not receive the signup bonus.
I applied and got in today after weeks of deliberation. I was nervous because I have a 4/24 status and that includes a Citi Premier bump in October/November. I used your link and had a Credit Karma score of 795 when I applied. My new card account from the Citi Premier fraud shows up on all three credit bureaus, but only Experian shows up as an inquiry. I read that you don't need to have a lock on Experian to apply for a Capital One card, so I unlocked my Equifax and TransUnion and applied, and thankfully it worked out.
Congrats on the mermaid and thanks for the link.
hello
How can I put a credit lock on my credit if I only have a low score with Experian?
I understand that you can place a freeze request on the Experian site.
https://www.experian.com/ncaconline/freeze
Thanks Mamo
Please follow the link. Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas
We hope this works out for you.
It's been a while since I've seen your link.
Thank you and have a Merry Christmas
Speaking of mermaids, I mermaided three family cards using your link.
I've had the Spark before, but I think it's an easier card.
Congrats on the mermaid and thanks for the link.
I didn't realize I could refine the two.
Oops. I'm sorry about all that.
Hi Mamo.
Thanks for the great information, always appreciated.
I've been lurking for 2 years now, so here's my question. My parents, both of whom live in NYC, need to visit Korea every year, but due to their physical limitations, they prefer to fly JFK-ICN business non-stop.
I took delivery of this Capital One X yesterday in my parents' P1 (father) name while looking for a way to get them on board. He's fully capable of spending.
Other than that, he has about 140,000 UR with Chase Sapphire+Ink (he just spent his UR and Capital Business Spark miles on Amazon early on).
The scenario I'm thinking of is
I'm giving away 150,000 miles roundtrip on Air Canada (codeshare with Asiana) JFK-ICN business.
(I found out about this from a comment by Mamo on a message board post, thanks)
Parent P1: 100,000 Capital One miles + 40-50,000 Capital One miles I already had, made 150,000 and transferred them to Air Canada to cut Asiana business
Parent P2: Parent P1's UR 150,000 (can Air Canada 1:1 transfer...) to cut off Asiana business)
You ask if this is a possible scenario, even though it's still in the conceptual stage.
My parents P2 has short credit and can't open an amex mr card or chase yet. I'm hoping to apply next year.
Is it possible for my parents P1 to open an air canada, transfer ur and capitalone points and family register p2 so they can close their business together?
And what kind of miles would I need to earn in the future to fly nonstop business between New York and Incheon?
1. I think all of the things you mentioned are possible. For Air Canada miles, I have no problem with 3rd party ticketing.
2. For information on how to transfer URs to Air Canada, see this article.
https://www.milemoa.com/ur-to-aeroplan-air-canada/
3. If your goal is nonstop business between New York and Incheon, collecting MRs, transferring them to ANA, and then booking a roundtrip on Asiana Business is the best value for money. However, the downside is that it's only a round-trip ticket, and Asiana Business seats are getting harder to find (which is also common when using Air Canada miles).
Ur successfully booked Asiana business for 1 person on aeroplan with capital one mile transfer. ^^ Thank you~!
Next year, I'll collect some amex.
Oh, well done.
Yes. After that, I like ANA for earning Amex MR.
If you haven't jumped on the Chase 5/24 yet, I think the new Aeroplan card could be a great option. Here's a quick rundown of the latest listings.
https://www.milemoa.com/newest-deals/
I have a question for you, Mamo. I'm also thinking about 4/24, and I'm trying to fill the 4/24 card slot before the timing is reported to Capital One. When does Capital One report the new card to the creditors? I'm wondering if you've had a similar problem, as it seems to be reported after closing a statement when searching!
Ah, I didn't think of that part at all, I was thinking it would just go straight up ;);
I can't register my PP card. Hmm. That information doesn't match our records. Please try again. Note: Eligibility to enroll in Priority Pass is only available for Venture X customers and begins 1-2 weeks after approval. As a reminder, only your physical card number can be used for Priority Pass enrollment. My card was created more than a month ago.
Well, it usually takes a week or two at most, but a month seems like something is wrong.
https://www.milemoa.com/bbs/board/8958140
I think you should give Capital One a call.
I finally got mine, but what's the best way to use Capital Miles when traveling from L.A. to Korea? I mean, when booking my plane ticket....
Air Canada, Avianca, etc. are Star Alliance partners, so it seems like it would be easiest to fly Asiana through these partners if Asiana would release seats. I'll have to do some more research and post a roundup.
Does the HERTZ upgrade mean I can book a sedan and still get an SUV, or does it mean I can choose a nicer car from the sedans?
Advisory Self-Answered Sedan talks about renting an SUV.
For upgrades, I believe it depends on the rental location. That's great that you got the SUV confirmed, thanks for sharing your story.
For Global entry, can I only get $100 per Account or is it $100 per AU card? Thank you.
It says you can only get $100 once across your account, regardless of whether it's your main or AU card.
Is this Capital Venture X card a personal card and not a business card? Is there any problem if I use this card for business purposes? I hope that's not too ignorant of a question lol.
Personal card, but free to use, right? ^^^^
In general, I think you should use it according to your purpose, but as africanchunyida replied, I think you should use it based on your personal judgment.
I followed the link and opened it ^^ I did it with P2's name but couldn't get it after struggling (after the mermaid told me to upload several documents, I uploaded them but didn't tell me what it was because something didn't fit...an angry P2 closed it because he didn't want to deal with you guys). I reapplied it with my name again. I hope I can get it without any problems. ^^ I hope I can get it without any problems.
Congratulations on the approval and thanks for using the link.
Thank you as always, I know it's late but I applied and got approved, I've been using Avios but I'll have to switch to Hertz, I haven't had a card in a long time and I didn't realize it before but creditcards.com has the Milemoa logo.
Congratulations on your approval!
Hi Mamo. I'm a marinero and I'm always getting good information from you. I was thinking of opening the VentureX card, but what happens if I currently have PP with Shari and also get PP through VentureX card? Also, I was wondering if the Shari and Venturex PP are at the same benefit level. I'm thinking of dropping the Shari to the Sharp after the current membership period ends if I get the Venturex, but right now I'm wondering if the two PP accounts will be on the same email and if so, will I automatically get the better benefits or will it matter if one of the cards gets cut off? If you have heard anything, I'd be very grateful if you could share it with me. Take care and stay healthy.
1. it's my understanding that you have to create and manage a separate account for each PP card, i.e. it follows the card, not the person, so if you get a PP with Venture X, you have to register for an account using a new email.
2. I understand that the Venture X and Sari have the exact same level of PP benefits. I understand that both cards allow cardholder + 2 guests entry and include PP Restaurant benefits.
Thank you very much, Mamo.
I'm always grateful to receive information from Milemoa. I've been trying to save money on a house purchase all December, and I got a mermaid through your link. I'm finger crossing until I get the signup bonus!
Happy Holidays!
Congrats on the mermaid and thanks for the link.
I was thinking about it too, but then I used your link to apply -> I got a mermaid!
I froze Experian beforehand and applied and had no problems.
Now I want to apply for PP, and I think I need to create a spouse card,
"Of course, in this case, those of you who have created family cards should think carefully and carefully because you are putting one card on the 5/24 count" -> I was wondering if maybe if I don't put my SSN on it, it won't go on the 5/24, is that possible?
If I don't put my SSN in, and it goes in anyway on 5/24, I might as well try another separate application under my spouse's name (and get a welcome offer).
1. congrats on the mermaid and thanks for the link.
2. I've read that a credit history build and match doesn't necessarily require a SSN. I don't know if this is true, but if you're saying that a new application is an option, I'd prefer a new application.
If I put my spouse's social when creating an au, does it affect my spouse's credit? ㅜㅜ If I didn't put the social number, it will say so, but can I delete the social number again or can I do it?
If you don't have a social number and you already have a credit file on file, we've heard that sometimes they'll match using just your name, date of birth, and address. The results will be the same, so don't worry too much about it.
I applied it through your link and got it too 🙂 I'm glad I did.
I also created a PP card.
I made P2 an authorized user, can P2 also create PP cards for free?
1. Yes. If you have an AU card, you can apply for a PP card for free.
2. congrats on the mermaid and thanks for the link.
Thank you for the detailed post. Is it possible to issue a PP card by authorizing user in the name of my parents (permanent residence X, visa X) in Korea?
Yes. We know that's possible at this point.
To create a PP card, I entered a 16-digit card number, and it looks like below.
That information doesn't match our records. Please try again. Note: Eligibility to enroll in Priority Pass is only available for Venture X customers and begins 1-2 weeks after approval.
I'm an AU, do I have to open a capital one Venture X account to apply for the PP card?
No, you do not need to register for an account on the Capital One site.
We've noticed that sometimes it takes a while for the information to update, but giving it a few more days seems to work.
See related articles on the board.
https://www.milemoa.com/bbs/board/8958140
This was a more difficult card than I thought it would be ㅠㅠ I followed Mamo's link and applied it, but both me and Pitu were both inri... I don't know why.
This is really ambiguous because some people get it really easily, and some people who think they will get it unexpectedly don't get it ;; I can't figure out what the criteria is exactly.
I applied with your link and was instantly inducted....
When will I be able to sign up for Milemoa?
Congrats on the mermaid and thanks for the link.
I have a lot of questions about signing up for membership, and I'm sorry I don't have a straightforward answer for you!
I see... Anyway, thanks for the great info!
Can I still get the HERTZ PRESIDENTIAL ELITE benefits if I book with a third party like CAPITAL ONE TRAVEL or KAYAK?
I googled it and it looks like it's Kebake, and it says it's not prepaid, but it's postpaid.
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hertz-gold-plus-rewards/1923047-status-3rd-party-bookings.html
Thanks for the answer. I followed the link and it said to check if it's linked to my hertz account after booking. Probably not through Chase City Capone Travel.
Thank you for your link. Capital One says they don't have many mermaids, but your link must be special. Thanks to you, I'm a mermaid. I'll have to write hard now lol.
Congratulations on the approval and thanks for using the link.
This card is unusual in that the card number of the main card and the AU card are different. When filling the spanning, you would naturally calculate the total of the main card and the AU card, right?
And since it's a newer card, it doesn't have a user signature. (I was curious, so I called and asked if it didn't matter if I didn't sign it. They said no, it's not necessary.
1. I understand that spending on both the primary and AU cards are combined.
2. Some card companies issue AU card numbers differently. Amex is one, Capital One is another, and Chase is the same card number.
I followed the link, applied, got in, and got my card yesterday.
Now I'm trying to figure out how to make good use of it. lol
Congrats on the mermaid and thanks for the link.
Hi, I don't think this has much to do with the body of the post, but I'm asking here to see if I can get some information.
I'm about to rent my first car from HERTZ, and I want to be able to pick it up right at my destination without spending time with my kids.
So the question is,
1. Is it possible for me to go to the local branch alone to fill out the paperwork for my first rental? So that my family can pick it up at the airport.
2. do I have to go to the office to upgrade my car, or can I request an upgraded car right at the airport pickup?
Thank you as always.
1. I'm not sure about this, but I looked up the information on flyertalk and it says that you can skip the counter and just pick up your car and come out and the staff at the booth will take care of everything. I don't know if it's 100%, but if it is, you shouldn't have to wait long at the counter.
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/33766401-post877.html
2. I don't know where you are renting from, but there is a place called Ultimate Choice where you can choose a car by class. However, please note that if you select Economy (A), Compact (B), or Manager's Special (EXAR) when making a reservation, you will not be eligible for Ultimate Choice.
For more information, see the wiki portion of the article linked below.
https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hertz-gold-plus-rewards/1793054-questions-discussion-about-hertz-ultimate-choice-service.html
Thank you for your kind response as always 🙂 .
I'm interested in the PP card during family registration.
Is this a separate name for each family member, so I can use PP lounge without the card holder?
Thank you.
Correct. You can register a Venture Card family card and apply under that family card's name.
Thank you for your quick response.
Then, in this case, for example, the mother or father will do it and finish the family registration,
If I join next year, will I still get all the benefits?
I read it, but I don't think I understood it well.
Can you clarify where you said "even if I sign up next year"?
For example, if you get a family card in your mom's name, you'll need to apply for and get a PP card in her name as well. The PP card is obviously your mom's.
Oh, I see.
For example, can I sign up under my mom's name this year, use it for a year, cancel the card within a year, and then sign up under my name next year and do another family registration?
This way, next year, my family can all use the PP card and other benefits.
When you say "sign up in my name next year," are you referring to signing up for a new credit card as the main applicant, and then adding a family card and issuing a PP card in the name of the family member who added the card? If so, I know that's possible.
Thank you for your detailed response. It always helps a lot.
Good morning, Mr. President
I'm Marin, who succeeded in getting 2 copies of Discover Secured - Sap by reading the strategy threads on the Mamo board.
Would it be appropriate to target Capital One Venture X in the main deck for my third card?
I don't know, so I'd like to build towards a card like Saf, where everyone recommends it and anyone who hears it will nod their head and not say why did you go with that card?
It was a huge hit earlier this year. However, the signup bonus has been reduced from 100k to 7.5k and the $200 credit has been removed, so it's a bit of a bummer... ;);
I applied for a PP card, but it's only valid for one year. Do I have to reapply for a PP card every year?
I know that it usually renews automatically and sends you a new card, but we'll have to wait and see if that's the case with Venture X.
I currently have 4 family cards and they are working well, so I have 5 people on my account, including myself. I would like to create a family card for one more person, is this possible and will the annual fee be more expensive if I add more than 4 family cards?
Oh, I'm not sure about that, I think you'll have to reach out to Capital One directly, I'll have to take a look at that.
hello! Thanks for the program, I'm using it well. I wanted to ask about the 300$ credit, do I have to book through the venture website to get the $300 credit or can I book any travel related booking anywhere and get the 300? Also, if you could tell me in what format the 300 comes in, I would really appreciate it!
You can only receive this $300 credit when you purchase travel on the Venture site. If you're using points you've earned, you can use the purchase eraser feature to make purchases on other sites, but the $300 credit must be through the Venture site.
I understand that the $300 credit comes in the form of a statement credit.
Thanks for the link Mermaid - always good to hear from you! My family is out of state and I have to use the Capital One travel portal for domestic tickets, right? I usually use Expedia, but they don't get reimbursed directly like the airline sites do, right?
1. To qualify for the $300 annual credit, you must use the Capital One Travel Portal site.
2. It is possible to get reimbursed for purchases directly from the airline's site, but you'll be using points you've earned, so you'll need to decide how you want to use them (transfer them to the airline and redeem them for miles, or reimburse them like cash) before doing so.
I need a PP card that my spouse can use without me.
In this case, is the only way to get a family card with an additional AU and apply for a PP card based on that?
5/24I was wondering if there is a way to do this without it.
In order to get a PP card in your spouse's name, you'll need to have a card in your spouse's name, which I don't think will be easy without the 5/24 impact.
I have a venture x card in my name.
I need a PP card for my spouse alone, and I want to get it without the 5/24 thing, is there any way to do that?
