메리엇이 suite night award를 개선하겠다고 상세 내용은 하반기에 발표하겠다고 했었는데 오늘 발표했나보네요.

내용은 아래와 같습니다.

 

 

Beginning in early 2024, Suite Night Awards™ will be called Nightly Upgrade Awards and will include these changes:

1. Participating Brands will be expanded to include The Ritz-Carlton®, EDITION®, Aloft®, Element®, and Protea Hotels®. 
2. Marriott Bonvoy® Members can access nearly 20% more room inventory when redeeming their awards for upgrades, including Premium Rooms and Suites with features like oceanfront views, balconies and extra space.
3. Upgrade requests will be confirmed closer to check-in, starting three days prior to arrival.

느껴지는 장단점은 아래와 같네요.

개선

1. 참여 브랜드 추가: ritz나 edition같은 곳이 추가된건 좋네요. aloft는 suite없는 곳이 많던데 말이죠.

2. 솔직한 이름: 이미 suite night award보면 suite 아닌 view 업그레이드가 많지요.

단점

1. 5일전부터 컨펌도 너무 늦었는데, 이제 3일전으로 48시간 줄였다는점

2. 대놓고 뷰 업그레이드를 이제 award까지 받아가면서 하겠다는 심보

 

이건 공식적인건 아닌데, 레딧에 직원발 정보에 의하면 호텔별로 룸타입 1개만 nightly upgrade award에서 제외할 수 있다고 하네요.

요즘 호텔들이 junior suite말고는 sna 사용도 못하게 막아놨는데 상위 룸들도 사용가능해진다면 이건 장점이네요. 

nightly upgrade award사용시 호텔이 받는 보상도 더 많아진다고 합니다. (이건 6월 발표에서 말했던거죠.)

 

특정 시간 인벤토리를 조작해서 sna 클리어 안되도록 한다는 이야기도 들었는데, 제일 기대되는점이라면 호텔에 보상이 늘어나면 호텔도 좀더 적극적이지 않을까 생각이 되네요.
