미국 항공사들이 change fee, cancellation fee 를 대부분 없앤건 다들 잘 알고 계실테고 저도 요걸 쏠쏠하게 써먹고 있습니다. 

 

그러다 최근에 ua로 hkg - sfo 티켓을 사고 이틀 뒤에 가격이 떨어지길래 변경하려 했는데 요건 change fee가 USD 255 정도 붙더라구요.

 

그래서 change fee가 국제선의 경우 정확이 무엇이 없어진건지 알아보려 한번 조사 해봤습니다. 혹시 제가 틀린게 있으면 공유해주시면 좋을것 같습니다.

 

 

1) American Airlines

상당히 straight forward 합니다. 그냥 아예 없습니다.

2) Delta

결론적으론 없습니다. 그런데 이게 좀 애매합니다.

대부분의 국제선은 수수료가 없다는 건데 자세히 보시면 아시아가 빠져있습니다. 

그런데 또 다음 글이 있습니다.

 

“a change and cancel waiver remains in place for those customers who have upcoming travel originating in Asia and Oceania (Australia, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Japan, Guam, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Nepal, New Zealand, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand); and Israel.”

정확히 따지자면 아시아, 오세아니아, 이스라엘은 아예 없앤건 아니고 웨이버만 있다는건데, 굳이 이걸 왜 따로 하는진 잘 모르겠습니다.

 

 

3) United

요놈이 문제입니다. 어떤 국제선들은 change fee 가 있는데, 이게 케바케 입니다.

 

"there are no change fees for most Economy and premium cabin tickets for flights within the U.S.; between the U.S. and Mexico or the Caribbean; or for international travel originating in the U.S"

해외에서 출발하는 비행기는 change fee가 있다는건데...

막상 검색해보면 모든 해외 출발편이 있는건 아닙니다.

예를들어 방금 검색한 결과

LHR - SFO 는 change fee, cancellation fee가 없습니다 (항상 없다는건 아닙니다.)

ICN - SFO는 change fee는 없고 cancellation fee가 있습니다. 

HKG - SFO는 change fee, cancellation fee 둘 다 있습니다.

 

그런데 이 ICN, HKG는 둘 다 fare class가 deep discount economy 임에도 불구하고 refundable 입니다. 다시말해 차액을 크레딧으로 돌려주는게 아니라 크레딧카드로 환불을 받을 수 있습니다.

 

여기서 재밌는(?) 경험을 했습니다. 아까 말했다시피 HKG-SFO 가격이 265달러나 싸졌는데 change fee가 255달러인 상황이었습니다. 혹시나 해서 ua에 전화를 해 봅니다. 잠시 ticket office와 얘기를 해보겠다 하더니, 너 티켓이 refundable이네? 하면서 $265 차액을 크레딧카드에 환불을 해줍니다. change fee 없이요. 

 

결론

아시아에서 출발 하는 항공편을 구매할경우

AA는 change fee가 없습니다.

DL은 change fee waiver로 인해 아직까진 없습니다.

UA는 change fee가 있을수도 있고 없을수도 있는데 있다 해도 전화를 통해 공짜로 바꿀 수도 (심지어 환불 받을수도) 있습니다 (ayor).
