• First, the benefits that will remain unchanged include 2x points on purchases, 40,000 mile sign-up bonus after hitting the spending requirement, chip enabled card, and no foreign transaction fees.
• The previous 10% redemption rebate when you redeemed your points for travel will be changing instead to a 5% redemption rebate across all redemption categories including travel, gift cards, merchandise, and cash back.
• “Tourist attractions” will no longer be included as an eligible travel redemption category.  It was explained that this redemption category caused confusion among cardholders as things like wineries and craft shows were included as “tourist attractions” whereas some theme parks were sometimes not included as they coded as “entertainment”.
• Tripit Pro will no longer be included as a card benefit as many cardholders were apparently unaware of the benefit and did not make use of it.
• The minimum threshold to redeem points will be increasing for travel redemptions from 2,500 points ($25 charge) to 10,000 points ($100 charge).
