다른 호텔 체인과 다른 매리엇의 특징은, guaranteed room type 은 해주면서 guaranteed late check-out 안 해 준다는 점, 흠. 

이 블로거 옵빠가 예전에 몇 번 커버했듯이, Platinum arrival gift  에 따른 guest compensation 은 사실 거.의. 일어날 확율이 없는데요 (아래 블로거 옵빠 개인적 경험에서도 매리엇 500 박 하는 동안 한번도 일어난 적 없다고). 매리엇 체인에 막 가입한 호텔의 경우 employee 가 marriott policy 에 익숙하지 않을 경우 일어날 수도 있겠습니다만, 이 호텔처럼 매리엇 체인이 된지 수십년된 호텔에서 일어난 건 아주 예외적인 경우라서 저도 놀랍습니다. 저는 Marriott elite member 전용 라인에서 체크인 했고, mobile check-in 도 했는데 Platinum arrival gift choice paper 를 첨부하지 않은 것은 아주 일어나기 힘든 예외적인 실수라 하겠습니다.

나중에 들어보니, 라마단 막 끝난 Eid 휴일 첫날이라 senior guest relation manager (이 호텔의 경우 보통 이 여자분이 엘리트 멤버 체크인은 특별히 다 케어하는 것으로 알고 있습니다) 가 휴가 중. ㅋ 그리고 사실인지 아닌지는 모르겠으나, 매니저 왈,  그 새로운 여자 직원 (그 첨에 틱틱~ 거리던 여자 직원분)이 예전에 제가 이 호텔 숙박할 때 항상 포인트 선택한 히스토리가 있어서 그냥 자동으로 포인트로 기록해서 넣었답니다. 하지만 이게 사실이라도 platinum arrivel gift choice 제안하지 않고 게스트 동의 없이 포인트로 선택해서 넣은 것은 marriott CSR 도 컨펌했지만 guest compensation 에 해당됩니다. 참고로 platinum arrival gift choice 를 제안 받았고 포인트를 선택했는데 나중에 그 포인트가 포스팅이 안 되었다.. 하는 것은 guest compensation 에 해당 "안" 됩니다. 이 경우는 나중에 컨택하면 선택한 500 포인트 넣어줍니다. 

보통 호텔들이 캐쉬 나가는 걸 꺼려하기 때문에 종종 point deposit 으로도 네고한다고도 하는데, 갠적으로 사실 포인트로 받아도 상관없지만 (20K 제안하면 $100 대신 받아들일 용의는 있었음. ㅋ) front desk manager 가 나중에 전화해서 얘기하길 $100  제 room bill 에 크레딧으로 넣었다고 하더군요. 체크 아웃 할 때 쓰고 남지 않은 크레딧은 캐쉬로 준답니다.  

하튼 10K 포인트로 거의 $600 per night 수트에 숙박하는 주제에 현금 $100 불 받아서 나가기. ㅎㅎ 

사족:  이 Platinum arrival gift guest compensation 케이스 관련해 위 옵빠 블로그에 댓글로 올라온 경험인데, 크... 사우디 넘들은 정말 ....    - -;;   지난 번 제 Conrad Cairo 구두 사건 연상되네요. 구두닦이 아저씨 월급에서 컷 한다면서 금액 네고하려하던 그 이집션 vice-GM 아저씨.  - -^

"I stayed at the Marriott Riyadh recently where I was not offered a platinum arrival gift. I reported this to the manager during my stay and claimed the $100. I was advised that I could have 5k points, or the $100 USD, but that the $100 would come from the staff member's own pocket. I complained about this and the manager eventually promised the $100 and that it would not be taken from the staff member. Meet the manager at the front desk to claim the next day and the employee was there - the manager had him open his wallet and take out the equivalent of $100 USD in local currency. I refused to accept this and begrudgingly took the points because I'm not going to take what is probably a week's wages out of someone's pocket. Was disgusted and can only imagine this isn't standard practice and that the hotel should be wearing this themselves, but food for thought when you're chasing the $100 USD."
