1월 초 한국을 다녀오는 길에 하와이안항공을 탔습니다. 아내가 면세 화장품이 필요하다고해서 '사리로 travel credit'을 뽑자는 생각에 긁었습니다.

하지만 며칠 후 제 chase 계정에는 하와이안항공 기내에서 '사리'를 이용한 구매가 travel credit이 아닌 잡다구리 1X로 잡혔습니다.

그래서 SM으로 확인해달라고 했고 다음과 같은 회신을 받았습니다.

Miscellaneous and Specialty Retail Stores. The rewards 

adjustment you requested cannot be made because the 

merchant is not in an eligible category. 

Visa and MasterCard systems assign a category code to each

merchant, based on the kinds of products and services they

sell. Sometimes the system places merchants in a 

generalized category, like "superstores" instead of 

"grocery stores" or "gas stations." 

Since the merchant in question was not assigned an 

appropriate category, your purchase(s) did not qualify for

this reward.

하와이안항공이 웬 마이애미? 상품 하나하나 마다 각각의 카테고리 코드? 하는 생각이 들었지만 그냥 참고 있습니다.

대한항공이나 다른 항공사는 되는 것 같은데 말이죠.
