IHG 멤버 가입 때 겪은 황당하고 심각한 발전산 경험 (feat. 남의 카드 정보가?!?)

작년에 제가 난생 처음 IHG카드를 만들고 IHG 사이트에 회원으로 가입할 때 겪었던 황당 경험담을 공유할까 합니다.

 

Chase에서 IHG카드를 신청해서 카드를 받았을 때 IHG 회원번호가 카드에 적혀있지 않더군요. 그 상태로 IHG 사이트에 멤버로 가입하면 이중으로 멤버쉽번호가 부여되지 않을까 걱정되어서 Chase에 전화해서 IHG 멤버쉽 번호를 부여받았고, 그 번호로 IHG 사이트에 가서 멤버등록을 시도했습니다.

 

문제는 IHG 사이트에 가서 account를 만들려고 하자 PIN이 이미 등록되어 있다고 메세지가 뜨더군요. 어라? 나 처음 등록하는 건데...

그래서 이번에는 IHG에 전화를 해서 상황을 설명하니 이메일로 PIN을 보내주었고, 그 PIN으로 정상적으로 로그인을 할 수 있었습니다. "그런데 왜 이미 등록이 되어 있지?"라고 생각하면서요.

 

우선 PIN부터 변경을 했습니다. 그리고 제 개인정보를 확인했습니다. 제 인적사항이 그대로 잘 기록되어 있었습니다.

이번엔 Payment Card 정보를 확인합니다.

 

잉?!? 제 오늘 받은 IHG 카드번호하고 다르네요? 뭐야 이거라고 생각하면서 IHG와 채팅을 시작했습니다.

아래에 제 채팅내역을 공유합니다. 초반부 상황설명은 생략했습니다.

   If someone else's credit card number was registered in my account, same thing can happen to my credit chard.

   Wave님, the information you have on Chase site might differ from the information on the IHG website.

   It shows that this credit card was used when you made a reservation with us in the year 2016.

   Now, that is a serious concern.

   This means that you were a member since the year 2016.

   This was your membership number since 2016. Chase attached your credit card information since they were able to pull this account using your information. I can also see that your stays on March 2016 which happened in Springdale, Utah.

제 생각에는 제가 처음 Chase를 통해서 받은 IHG 멤버쉽 번호가 새로운 번호가 아니라 기존 멤버쉽 번호를 리사이클링하거나 실수로 남의 번호를 제게 부여한게 아닌가 의심이 되네요. 리사이클링 했다고 해도 모든 정보가 초기화 되지 않고 남의 카드번호 정보가 그대로 남겨져 있는 것도 이해가 안되고요. 그래서 저는 IHG사이트에 Payment Card 정보를 입력해 놓지 않고, 호텔 부킹을 할 때 일일히 카드정보를 입력하고 있습니다.

 

여기 마모 사이트에서 간혹 IHG 계정이 털리셨다는 글들을 봐았는데, 이런 IHG/Chase의 심각한 발전산과 연관이 있지 않을까 하는 생각에 이글을 올렸습니다.
