지금 2019년말 정도에 영주권을 신청해서 진행중에 있는데요. 

 

 

며칠 전에 아래와 같은 이메일을 받았는데요. 

요약하자면 제 H-1B 비자가 올해 8월에 종료가 되는데 영주권이 나오는 시기(올 가을 즈음이라고 합니다)보다 더 일찍 종료가 되는 셈입니다. 

그래서 제 아내의 H-4 비자를 연장하는 게 좋겠다는 내용입니다. 

근데 이게 영주권 진행이 문제가 없으면 굳이 연장을 안해도 되는데 만약의 경우에 대비해 연장을 하라는 뉘앙스인 거 같습니다. 

어떤 경우에 문제가 되는지도 궁금도 하고, 1200불 정도되는 비용을 들여서 이걸 신청을 해야할지 말아야 할지 고민이 됩니다.

I am writing because while your and your family’s adjustment of status applications are pending, your respective H statuses will expire on 08/17/2021. As such, we are initiating the H-1B Extension process.

 

Even though Your wife would be authorized to remain in the U.S. as an applicant for adjustment of status, and have work and travel authorization (the I-765 and I-131), the conservative recommendation is to extend her H-4 status. This gives her a “backup” in the event of an unanticipated issue with your pending green card applications.

 

I have listed the legal and filing fees for the H-4 extension below. Please advise by Friday, February 26, 2021, whether you would like our assistance in extending her H-4 status.

• USCIS Filing Fee for I-539:                       $370

• USCIS Biometrics Fee:                            $85
